STATE PATROL INVESTIGATING INCIDENT NEAR LEWISVILLE THAT STARTED IN NEW ULM
The state patrol is investigating an incident in which a trooper spotted a Chevy Impala with California plates driving through a ditch near State Highway 30 and 830th Avenue near Lewisville Monday night just before 10 pm. Officials say when the trooper tried to make contact, the female driver locker herself inside the vehicle, refused to comply and made several attempts to drive out of the ditch. The driver fled, nearly struck a trooper and some squad cars and then continued east on 240th Street when officers lost the vehicle after it reached speeds over 100 miles per hour. The driver was reportedly stopped earlier in the day in New Ulm. State patrol deployed a plane and drones to search for the suspect but were unable to locate her. Authorities say her vehicle was last seen near 499th Avenue and 111th Street just east of Amboy where authorities believe she abandoned the vehicle and hid in a nearby farm place. She still has not been located and authorities say she told them she was trying to get to Iowa. The investigation is ongoing.
