Sunshine Wednesday, Rain Chances Return Thursday Across Parts of Minnesota

September 23, 2026 | Three-day outlook: Wednesday through Friday

Minnesota’s midweek forecast brings a mostly dry Wednesday before clouds increase and rain chances return Thursday, particularly in northern and central areas. Temperatures in Duluth, St. Cloud and Rochester are expected to stay in the 60s through Friday, with slightly warmer conditions to finish the workweek.

Northern Minnesota

The Duluth area starts the three-day stretch with plenty of sunshine Wednesday, a high near 61 degrees and an overnight low around 46. Thursday turns cloudy, with a few showers possible mainly early in the day. Temperatures will reach about 62 degrees, followed by a milder overnight low near 52.

Friday brings a mix of clouds and sunshine, with highs edging up to 64 degrees and overnight temperatures near 53. For the Duluth area, Thursday is the main day to plan around showers during this forecast period. Conditions elsewhere in northern Minnesota will vary.

Central Minnesota

Around St. Cloud, Wednesday will feature a mix of sunshine and clouds, with a high near 66 degrees and a low around 54. Thursday brings the most unsettled weather of the three-day stretch: occasional morning rain and a thunderstorm are possible, followed by a few afternoon showers. Highs will fall back to around 61 degrees, with lows near 54.

Friday remains cloudy, but temperatures recover to around 67 degrees. Overnight lows will stay relatively mild near 57. The St. Cloud forecast points to fewer weather interruptions Friday than Thursday, although clouds will linger.

Southern Minnesota

The Rochester area will see sunshine mixed with clouds Wednesday, with a high near 65 degrees and an overnight low around 52. Thursday turns cloudy and slightly cooler, with temperatures reaching about 63 degrees and lows near 55. Unlike the St. Cloud forecast, Rochester’s outlook does not currently highlight thunderstorms Thursday.

Friday stays mostly cloudy, with highs climbing to around 67 degrees and lows near 52. The Rochester forecast is comparatively quiet through the three-day period, with clouds rather than widespread rain the main feature Thursday and Friday.
