Tarek Omar Aamold
Heaven gained a fierce, beautiful, angel on Aug. 25, 2024. Surrounded by family, Tarek Omar Aamold, 58, passed peacefully at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Tarek was born May 13,1966, in Hallock, Minn. She was a member of Tri-County High School’s first graduation class in 1984. She was an athlete who ran track, played basketball and volleyball. While raising three children, she earned a degree as a legal secretary at Northland Community College in Thief River Falls, MN.
Following the flood of 1997, Tarek and her family moved from Karlstad, MN., to Grand Forks, where she became known as a jack of all trades and made lifelong friends. She met Pat Aamold, the love of her life, while working at Johnson Laffen in 1999, and they married on Sept. 10, 2011.
Tarek loved to be active and spending time with family. Nicknamed “Yaya” by her granddaughter Tymber, she loved gardening, shopping, dancing, music, crafts, time with family and friends. She loved to decorate over the holidays, and there wasn’t a do-it-yourself project she wouldn’t tackle.
She was an amazing cook, but never followed a recipe’s exact measurements. Instead, she would say “Measure with your heart,” and her food always turned out deliciously.
She loved to be among loved ones — whether it was family, or friends who became family. There were many.
Tarek overcame many health issues in her life, including her first brain aneurysm 18 years ago, followed by beating Stage IV breast cancer, and then, sepsis shortly after. Tarek was a fighter. In June, Tarek suffered another aneurysm, along with a hemorrhagic stroke. She fought relentlessly for two months, showing her true warrior spirit and resiliency. Through Tarek’s journey, our family has learned that aneurysms can be hereditary. If it has occurred in your family, please get checked in memory of Tarek.
Tarek is survived by her husband, Pat Aamold, her children Tyrone Grandstrand and wife Suheila, daughter Tyneal Beckius and her husband Tyler Beckius, and Tatum Grandstrand and wife Chelshey Grandstrand. The loves of her life are her grandkids, Tymber and Tyllulah Beckius, along with Tatum’s son Myles Grandstrand. She is also survived by her parents, Paul and Marlys Oistad, her brother, Troy Oistad, sister, Toni and her husband, Chad Spilde, along with brother Kelly Heggen, and sisters, Jodi Linnertz, and Whitney Weisenberger, as well as many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
