Team USA Mens Hockey wins Gold, Now Wild get ready to come back
(Milan/Minnesota News Network) — The United States men’s ice hockey team took down Canada 2-1 in overtime of the gold medal game at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan yesterday. Jack Hughes scored the game-winning goal in the extra period. Connor Hellebuyck was impressive between the pipes stopping 41 of the shots he faced for the Stars and Stripes. Minnesota Wild player Matt Boldy opened the scoring for the U-S in the first period of the game. Team U-S-A has now earned three gold medals in Olympic men’s ice hockey. Wild players Boldy, Quinn Hughes, and Brock Faber are on the Team U-S-A roster, as are former Golden Gopher star defenseman Jackson LaCombe of Eden Prairie, Tampa Bay’s Jake Guentzel of Woodbury, Colorado Avalanche forward Brock Nelson of Warroad, and Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger of Lakeville.
After Team U-S-A won the gold medal with three Minnesota Wild players on the roster, the rest of the Wild roster was in St. Paul practicing after the U-S golden victory. The team has today off, will skate tomorrow and Wednesday and then head to Denver to get ready to face the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night at Ball Arena. Puck drops at 8 P-M.
