Teen Shot in Willmar, Suspect Arrested

(Willmar, MN) A teen is hospitalized and another in jail after a shooting in Willmar Sunday morning.

Police say at just before 2:30 Sunday morning, they got a call about gunshots in an area west of Eagle Ridge Drive.  A few minutes later they got a call about a possible gunshot victim in the CentraCare Rice Emergency Room.

The 17-year-old victim was in stable condition, and flown to an undisclosed Twin Cities hospital where the victim’s current condition is unknown.

Investigators spoke to witnesses, executed search warrants, and learned the shooting happened in the area of North 1st Street and 15th Avenue Northwest.

They located and arrested a suspect, an 18-year-old Willmar man, who was taken to the Kandiyohi County Jail, with formal charges pending.
