Thomas J. Wiese

Tom Wiese, age 74 of  rural Starbuck, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.

Private graveside services for Thomas Wiese will be held Monday, August 26, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, MN, with Reverend Julius Miller officiating.

Thomas Jon Wiese, the only son of Joe and Nettie (Osterman) Wiese was born on October 4, 1949, in Morris, Minnesota. Tom was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Hancock. He attended Hancock schools, graduating with the Class of 1967. Following high school, Tom enlisted into the United States Army and attended the University of Minnesota Morris for two years. Along the way, he met Mary Kokesch, they began dating and were married on September 8, 1973 in Willmar, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with one son, Andrew.

Together, Tom and Mary owned and operated “Daisy Field Flower and Gifts” in Willmar and later began building houses together, including all of the homes they lived in! Tom also enjoyed fishing – ice and open water, woodworking, and raising his son.

Tom was very proud of his service to our country. While in the United States Army, Tom was a Specialist 4th Class, in the 25th Infantry Division. He served two tours in Vietnam and was proud to be a life member in the VFW and the American Legion.

Tom is survived by his son: Andrew of Denver, Colorado; two sisters: Sandy (Delvin) Pahl of Morris, MN, and Susan (Lyle) Gregerson of Starbuck, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Mary; and his parents: Joe and Nettie.
