TRAVIS BAUER FOUND GUILTY OF SECOND-DEGREE MURDER

A Sibley County Grand Jury has found Travis Bauer of Winthrop guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Dennis Weitzenkamp of rural Winthrop.  He was found not-guilty of first-degree murder.  The jury reached the verdict at 9 pm Friday evening.  A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered and a sentencing date will be scheduled at a later date approximately 60 days out.  The court revoked Bauer’s bail and remanded him into custody.  Bauer is convicted in the shooting death of Weitzenkamp in September 2022.  Weitzenkamp was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head on his farm.  Bauer worked on Weitzenkamp’s farm.
