TROUT SEASON OPENS SATURDAY, AREA WATERWAYS STOCKED
The stream trout season opens this weekend in Minnesota. The DNR’s Dean Paron says Minnesota has 3800 miles of designated trout fishing streams. Over 5,000 rainbow trout were stocked into the St. Peter trout ponds in April with 1500 getting stocked Thursday. That area is considered a “put and take” area meaning the water is stocked with the intention of anglers taking their catch home. Near Redwood Falls, nearly 300 brown trout and 300 rainbow trout were stocked in Ramsey Creek west of Redwood Falls, Fort Ridgely State Park and Spring Creek between Redwood Falls and Sleepy Eye. Those are also “Put and Take” areas.
