Twins Bats Mostly Silent In 5-2 Loss To Cleveland

The Minnesota Twins saw their four-game winning streak come to an end with a 5-2 loss to Cleveland at Target Field yesterday. Guardians starting and winning pitcher Gavin Williams had a no-hitter into the fifth inning and moved to 10-4 on the season. He worked seven total innings, allowing three hits and two runs. He fanned 11 Minnesota batters. Meanwhile, Bailey Ober pitched a game for the Twins for the first time since late May. He was sharp, as well, working five innings of three-hit, one-run baseball with five punchouts. Minnesota first baseman Royce Lewis collected two of the Twins’ three hits, including a solo homer in the seventh. The 46-48 Twins remain in third place in the A-L Central, just two games out of first place. Minnesota is a game out of the final A-L Wild Card position. Cleveland halted a four-game skid and sits at 48-46. The Twins will host the Angels tonight to start a three-game weekend series. Tonight’s first pitch is 7:10 P-M.
