Twins beat Cleveland 4-1
(Cleveland, OH) — The Minnesota Twins evened their series against the Cleveland Guardians with a 4-1 win at Progressive Field last night in Ohio. Matt Wallner broke a 1-1 tie with an R-B-I single in the top of the fifth, and Willi Castro extended Minnesota’s lead with a two-run homer in the eighth. Cole Sands earned his ninth win in relief, while Griffin Jax picked up his ninth save. The Twins remain a game-and-a-half ahead of Detroit for the final A-L Wild Card spot at 80-71. Cleveland’s Lane Thomas homered in the losing effort, while Gavin Williams was charged with his tenth loss after allowing two runs on five hits in five innings. The Guardians still have a five-game lead over Kansas City in the AL Central race. Game three of the four-game set is tonight at 5:40 P-M.
