Twins beat Tigers 7-3
(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The Minnesota Twins got five solid innings from starting and winning pitcher Joe Ryan, a two-run homer from second baseman Luke Keaschall, and a two-run single from catcher Victor Caratini in a 7-3 win over Detroit last night at Target Field. Ryan worked five innings of three-run, three-hit baseball, working out of a fourth inning jam. He struck out seven Tigers in five innings and walked three. One of his allowed runs was unearned and he improved to 1-1 this season. Keashall’s homer came in the fourth inning and broke a 3-3 tie. Caratini added insurance with his work in the eighth inning. Cam Laweryson earned his first save of the year by working the final inning-and-two-thirds by not allowing a hit or run and striking out two. The Twins improved to 4-6, while Detroit dropped to 4-6. Game two of the four-game series is tonight at 6:40 P-M in Minneapolis.
