Twins blow late lead, can’t get sweep
(Arlington, TX) — The Texas Rangers avoided a four-game sweep with a 6-5, ten-inning win over the Minnesota Twins at Globe Life Field yesterday. The Rangers trailed 4-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh before scoring five runs in the frame. Adolis Garcia tied the game with a two-run home run before Josh Jung put Texas on top with a solo shot. The damage came against Twins reliever Jorge Alcala. Minnesota first baseman Carlos Santana went deep to tie the game in the ninth, but Garcia scored on a throwing error in the tenth to give Texas the win. Andrew Chafin earned his fourth win in relief. The Rangers snapped a three-game losing streak. Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers also hit a homer in the losing effort, and Jhoan Duran was charged with his sixth loss out of the bullpen. The loss ended Minnesota’s three-game winning streak. The Twins trail first-place Cleveland by three-games in the A-L Central. Minnesota visits San Diego tonight to start a three-game interleague series.
