Twins Bolster Pitching Staff for Playoff Push

The Minnesota Twins strengthened their pitching staff ahead of the trade deadline, adding former All-Star reliever Jeff Hoffman in their latest move.

Minnesota acquired Hoffman and cash from the Toronto Blue Jays for pitching prospects Dasan Hill and John Klein, infielder Dameury Pena and international bonus-pool space.

The 33 year old right hander has 75 strikeouts in 48 innings this season. Hoffman recorded 33 saves for Toronto last year and has 50 saves during his major league career. The Twins are expected to use him in late inning, high leverage situations.

Hoffman joins left handed reliever AJ Minter and starting pitcher Dean Kremer among Minnesota’s recent additions. The Twins acquired Minter from the New York Mets and Kremer from the Baltimore Orioles.

The three pitchers add more than eight million dollars to Minnesota’s remaining 2026 payroll. The spending and prospect trades make it clear the Twins are strengthening the roster for a playoff run. Official Twins report
