Twins break out the bats to beat Colorado
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins rattled off 24 hits during a 17-9 win over the Colorado Rockies at Target Field yesterday. Shortstop Carlos Correa had a career high five hits, while Royce Lewis, Carlos Santana, Kyle Farmer, and Willi Castro each had three hits in the victory. Lewis and Castro hit homers, while Santana drove home four runs. Every Minnesota starting player had at least one hit. The Twins scored five runs in the first inning and seven runs in the eighth to take control and then seal the win. Pablo Lopez picked up his sixth win after giving up just two runs on five hits in five innings. Minnesota has won three of four and sits at 36-32 on the year. Ryan McMahon went deep in the losing effort, and Austin Gomber was charged with his fourth loss after surrendering eight runs on 11 hits in three innings. The Rockies have dropped three of four and are 24-44. Minnesota opens a four-game series against Oakland tonight in Minneapolis.
