Twins Call Up Top Prospect Walker Jenkins

The Minnesota Twins are calling up top prospect Walker Jenkins.

The 21-year-old center fielder is expected to make his major-league debut Friday night when Minnesota opens a home series against the Chicago White Sox.

Jenkins is the Twins’ number-one prospect and ranks 15th overall on MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 list. The left-handed hitter posted a .406 batting average with eight home runs during August at Triple-A St. Paul.

The promotion comes as the Twins evaluate Byron Buxton after he aggravated a lingering right hip injury. Minnesota has not announced the corresponding roster move. Minnesota Twins
