Twins drop 7th straight

(Washington, DC) — The Washington Nationals rattled off 14 hits and sent the Minnesota Twins to a seventh straight loss last night in the nation’s capital. The 12-3 loss dropped the Twins to 24-23 and six-and-a-half-games behind first-place Cleveland in the A-L Central. Washington led by just two through four innings before breaking the game open with four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Luis Garcia Jr. and Jesse Winker each launched home runs in the victory, while Eddie Rosario drove in three runs against his former team. Mitchell Parker improved to 3-2 after striking out seven batters and allowing just three runs on seven hits in six innings. The Nats snapped a five-game losing streak. Carlos Correa went deep in the losing effort, and Pablo Lopez was charged with his fourth loss after surrendering seven runs on eight hits in five innings. Game two of the three-game series is tonight.
