Twins drop another in San Diego
(San Diego, CA) — The San Diego Padres scored twice in the seventh inning and four more runs in the bottom of the eighth to rally twice for a 7-5 win over the Minnesota Twins at Petco Park last night. Twins pinch hitter Christian Vazquez put Minnesota up by two with a pinch-hit, two-run double in the top of the eighth inning before Jurickson Profar smashed a three-run go-ahead shot to give the Padres the lead for good. Manny Machado hit a two-run smash in the seventh inning to tie the game at 3-3. San Diego reliever Tanner Scott earned his eighth win, while Minnesota lefty Steven Okert took the loss out of the bullpen. Minnesota catcher Ryan Jeffers put his team ahead 2-1 with a three-run homer in the fourth inning. San Diego has won three of four and is 72-55. The 70-56 Twins are on a three-game losing streak. Minnesota will try to avoid a three-game sweep with a late afternoon game today at 5:40 P-M.
