Twins Drop Opener To Atlanta
The Atlanta Braves scored nine runs in the first two innings of their 10-6 win over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. Matt Olson hit a three-run home run in a four-run first inning, while Travis d’Arnaud (dar-NO) launched a two-run shot during a five-run second. Olson finished with five RBI in the victory, while Whit Merrifield had five hits. Max Fried (freed) earned his eighth win after striking out seven and holding Minnesota to one earned run and two unearned runs on four hits in five innings. The 71-60 Braves have won four of five. Kyle Farmer and Matt Wallner both went deep in the losing effort, and Bailey Ober was charged with his sixth loss after surrendering nine runs on seven hits in two innings. Ober had given up only nine runs in his previous six starts combined. The 72-59 Twins have dropped three of four and are in third-place in the A-L Central, two-and-a-half-games behind the Cleveland Guardians. Game two of the three-game interleague series is tonight at Target Field at 6:40 P-M.
