Twins Eliminated From Playoffs
The Minnesota Twins have been eliminated from postseason contention as they lost at home to Baltimore on Friday night, 7-2. Baltimore scored two in the second inning, one in the seventh and four in the eighth to build up a 7-0 lead before Minnesota scored two in the bottom of the ninth. The Twins have gone 12-25 since reaching 17 games over 500 on August 17th, and their record falls to 82-78 with two games left in the season. Pablo Lopez takes the loss. He pitched five-and-two-thirds innings, giving up two runs on six hits, three walks and eight strikeouts. The Twins managed just four hits in the game, with two of them coming in the bottom of the ninth. The loss by the Twins clinches wild-card spots for the Royals and the Tigers. Also, Baltimore’s win clinches the number-one wild-card position for the Orioles. Minnesota and Baltimore wrap up the regular season with games tonight at 6:15 and tomorrow at 2:10.
