Twins Hold Off Athletics for 9-6 Victory

The Minnesota Twins survived a late Athletics rally to earn a 9-to-6 victory Monday night in Sacramento.

Zebby Matthews allowed one run over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Kaelen Culpepper collected four hits, Byron Buxton scored four times and Josh Bell drove in three runs.

Minnesota carried a 9-to-1 lead into the ninth inning before the Athletics scored five runs. The Twins stopped the rally to snap a three-game losing streak and move within two games of the final American League wild-card spot
