(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins racked up 15 hits during a 13-3 rout of the Kansas City Royals at Target Field Tuesday night.
Max Kepler went 3-for-5 with a home run and four R-B-I, while Christian Vazquez and Kyle Farmer also homered.
Zebby Matthews earned the win in his Major League debut, striking out five and holding the Royals to two runs on five hits over five innings.
The 67-52 Twins have won four of six and remain three-and-a-half-games out of first-place in the A-L Central, trailing Cleveland.
Royals sluggers M-J Melendez and Salvador Perez each homered in the losing effort, while Seth Lugo was charged with his seventh loss after surrendering seven earned runs and one unearned run on nine hits in four innings.
The 65-55 Royals have dropped three of four and are six-games out of first-place.
The Twins go for the sweep with a matinee game today in Minneapolis starting at 12:10 PM.
