Twins lose opener
(St. Louis, MO) — The St. Louis Cardinals got off to a fast start during a 5-3 Opening Day win over the Minnesota Twins at Busch Stadium. Lars Nootbaar hit a two-run home run in the second inning as the Cards raced out to a 4-0 lead through three innings. Minnesota got within one before Nolan Arenado hit a solo shot in the eighth to put the game away. Sonny Gray earned his first win after giving up just two runs in five innings, and Ryan Helsley picked up the save. Harrison Bader homered for the Twins, and Pablo Lopez was charged with the loss after surrendering four runs on eight hits in five frames. The two teams are off today and resume their three-game interleague series tomorrow at 1:15 P-M.
