Twins lose to Yankees again
(Bronx, NY) — The red hot New York Yankees extended their winning streak to six games after taking down the Minnesota Twins 5-1 in their series opener last night in the Bronx. Former Twins minor leaguer and current Yankees starter Luis Gil (heel) earned his eighth victory of the year after striking out six batters over six scoreless frames. Gleyber (GLAY-ber Torres opened the scoring with a solo homer in the bottom of the second, and Giancarlo Stanton went deep with a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth. First-place New York is now 43-19. Bailey Ober suffered his fourth loss of the season after allowing three runs on three hits over five innings of work. Royce Lewis provided all of the scoring for the Twins with a solo home run. In fact, that’s the only the second run Minnesota has scored in 36 innings against the Yankees this year. Minnesota is now 33-27. Game two is tonight at 6:05 P-M at Yankee Stadium.
