Twins Offense Shut Down

(Minneapolis, MN) — Kansas City left-hander Cole Ragans tossed seven magnificent innings Wednesday as the Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 4-1 to avoid a three-game sweep at Target Field.

Ragans earned his tenth win after striking out eight and holding Minnesota to one run on five hits.

Bobby Witt Jr. and Paul DeJong each hit home runs in the victory as the Royals snapped a two-game losing streak.

Carlos Santana homered for the Twins, while Louie Varland fell to 0-5 after surrendering three runs on eight hits in six innings.

The 67-53 Twins are now four-and-a-half-games behind the first-place Cleveland Guardians, who have won five straight games.

The Royals are six-games behind Cleveland. Minnesota opens a four-game series at the defending world champion Texas Rangers tonight (Thursday).
