Twins Rally Past Mariners; Game Two This Afternoon

The Minnesota Twins rallied for a 5-to-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners Friday night at T-Mobile Park.

Brooks Lee hit a two-run homer in the second inning before Royce Lewis tied the game with a solo shot in the sixth. Luke Keaschall followed with a go-ahead R-B-I double, and Ryan Jeffers added an insurance homer in the eighth.

Twins starter Zebby Matthews struck out a career-high ten batters over five innings. Minnesota’s bullpen then delivered four hitless and scoreless innings.

The victory moved the Twins to 56-and-55, putting them above the .500 mark for the first time since April 21. Minnesota is tied with Cleveland for the final American League Wild Card position and trails first-place Chicago by three games. Game recap

The series continues this afternoon with rookie left-hander Connor Prielipp starting for Minnesota against Seattle right-hander Logan Gilbert.
