Twins salvage a game vs Reds

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins avoided a sweep with a 9-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Target Field yesterday. Ryan Jeffers tied the game at 2-2 with an R-B-I double in the sixth inning, before Brooks Lee put Minnesota on top for good with a two-run single. Lee had five R-B-I on the day. The Twins pulled away with five runs in the bottom of the seventh. Carlos Santana homered in the victory, while Cole Sands earned his eighth win in relief. The Twins have a two-and-a-half game lead over Detroit and Seattle for the final A-L Wild Card spot. Rhett Lowder was charged with his second loss after surrendering three runs on six hits in five-and-a-third innings. The Reds have dropped three of five. Minnesota begins a four-game series in Cleveland tonight.
