Twins Shut Out by Athletics, 2–0

The Twins opened their three-game series against the Athletics with a 2-to-0 loss Friday night at Target Field.

Minnesota finished with only two hits. The Twins drew seven walks but went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base.

Zebby Matthews carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning before allowing one run in the fifth and another in the sixth. Matthews took the loss after surrendering two runs on three hits and three walks over six innings.

The Twins fall to 51-and-54 and remain three games out of the final American League Wild Card spot. Connor Prielipp is scheduled to start tonight’s second game at 6:10 P-M. Official MLB recap
