Twins Star Helps American League Blank National League

Minnesota Twins pitcher Joe Ryan worked one shutout inning in last night’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Philadelphia and was terrific. The two-time All-Star struck out Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman and Washington Nationals shortstop C-J Abrams in tossing a scoreless fourth inning. The American League pitchers allowed only three hits all night and beat the National League 4-0 at Citizens Bank Park. New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger drove home two first-inning runs to get the A-L going. He was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. Chicago White Sox infielder Miguel Vargas hit a solo homer in the eighth inning. Meanwhile, the Twins are off until opening a road series in Chicago on Friday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
