Twins start tonight with an exhibition against the Gophers

(Ft. Myers, FL/Minnesota News Network) — The University of Minnesota baseball team has a special opportunity tonight in Fort Myers when they take on the Minnesota Twins in an exhibition game to unofficially open the spring training season for the big league club. The Golden Gophers are 3-1 so far this season in regular season games and head coach Ty McDevitt says they are thrilled get the chance to go against big leaguers tonight in what he calls a fun night of baseball with a Minnesota flare. The Twins will officially open their Grapefruit League season tomorrow against the Boston Red Sox, while the Gophers will face Northeastern tomorrow and Sunday in regular season action. Tonight’s first pitch is 5:05 P-M at Hammond Stadium.
