Twins take Game 1 vs Rays
(St. Petersburg, FL) — The Minnesota Twins opened their series against the Tampa Bay Rays with a 5-4 win at Tropicana Field last night. Trevor Larnach hit a three-run home run in the top of the second inning to give Minnesota an early 4-2 lead, while Brooks Lee added a solo shot in the top of the eighth to give the Twins a necessary insurance run. Jorge Alcala earned his fourth win in relief, while Jhoan Duran picked up his 21st save. Minnesota has won three of four and sits three-and-a-half-games behind Cleveland for first-place in the American League Central Division. Jonny DeLuca went deep in the losing effort, while Zack Littell was charged with his ninth loss after surrendering four runs on seven hits in four innings. The Rays have dropped four of their last five. Game two of the four-game series is tonight at 5:50 P-M.
