Twins Win 3rd Straight/Lewis Injured
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins are on a three-game winning streak following a 5-3 win over the Detroit Tigers at Target Field Tuesday night.
The Twins trailed by a run in the fifth when Manny Margot hit a game-tying home run. Ryan Jeffers drove in the go-ahead run in seventh before Carlos Correa went deep in the eighth to add insurance.
Jorge Alcala earned his second win in relief, while Jhoan Duran picked up his 13th save.
Twins third baseman Royce Lewis left the game in the sixth inning due to a groin injury. Lewis says he felt the injury while running out a run-producing double in the third inning and eventually got to where he couldn’t run at all and removed himself from the game.
The Twins are in second place in the AL Central at 48-37, six games behind first-place Cleveland.
Game two of the three-game series is tonight at 6:40 PM in Minneapolis.
