Twins win 8th straight, beating Giants 7-6 on Keirsey’s RBI single in 10th

MINNEAPOLIS, MN— DaShawn Keirsey Jr. delivered a walk-off single in the 10th inning Sunday, lifting the Minnesota Twins to a 7-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants and extending their winning streak to eight games.

The Giants grabbed a one-run lead in the top of the 10th off Jhoan Duran (1-0), but the Twins quickly responded. Automatic runner Ty France advanced to third on a Brooks Lee single and scored on Ryan Jeffers’ groundout. After an intentional walk and another groundout, Keirsey lined a shot down the left-field line off Ryan Walker (1-2) to complete a perfect 6-0 homestand for Minnesota.

Heliot Ramos led the Giants’ offense with a home run and four RBIs, while Lee powered the Twins with a homer and three hits.

Twins starter Pablo López went six innings, allowing four runs on five hits and departing with the lead. However, the Giants rallied with three singles off Griffin Jax in the eighth to tie the game 5-5. Jax escaped a bases-loaded jam by retiring pinch-hitter Patrick Bailey on a full-count groundout after falling behind 3-0.

San Francisco manager Bob Melvin was ejected in the ninth after disputing a checked swing call.

Royce Lewis snapped a prolonged slump in the sixth, ending an 0-for-36 drought with a game-tying RBI single. He had been hitless in his final 21 at-bats last season and was 0-for-15 to start this year after returning from the injured list on May 6.

Up Next:
The Twins begin a three-game set in Baltimore on Tuesday with right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson (2-2, 4.01 ERA) starting. The Giants head home to host Arizona on Monday, with Justin Verlander (0-2, 4.50 ERA) set to take the mound.
