TWO ARRESTED FOR FRAUD IN OLIVIA
Two people were arrested Monday in Olivia in connection with an ongoing phone and computer scam. Police say they received a call around 11:04 Monday morning that a person’s computer had been compromised and an individual had arranged for a courier to collect a substantial amount of cash. The victim fell for the scam and handed money to the courier on February 11. Monday, the suspect contacted the victim again demanding another $40,000 in cash. A little after 1 Monday afternoon, Olivia police received a call that the courier was at the victim’s home. Officers and Renville County deputies responded and arrested two male suspects on suspicion of fraudulent activity. They are being held in the Renville County jail on fraud-related offenses. Plus one of the suspects has been flagged with an immigration hold by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation.
