Two Fall Through Ice on Lac qui Parle Lake

A utility vehicle broke through the ice on Lac qui Parle Lake sending two riders into the frigid water this morning (Friday).

The Sheriff’s Office says at just after 7:30, they received a 911 call that the two had fallen through the ice and were placed in a vehicle at Boyd’s Landing to await EMS arrival.

Authorities say the two were traveling northeast from Boyd’s Landing in a UTV when they encountered an ice heave and broke through. Both were able to exit the vehicle as it became submerged and subsequently walked back to Boyd’s Landing to get aid.

They were then taken to JMHS and treated for non-life-threatening injuries related to cold water and temperature exposure.
