TWO RESCUED AFTER FALLING THROUGH ICE ON MADISON LAKE
Two men were rescued after falling through ice on Madison Lake Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office was called just after 1 pm to the DNR access area of Madison Lake to help a man who had fallen through the ice approximately 1600 feet from shore. Authorities say 71-year-old Frank Cesario of rural Mankato was in the water holding onto the edge of the ice. 75-year-old Joseph Postels of North Mankato was on the ice near Cesario. They had been fishing. They were loaded onto inflatable rafts and brought to shore and then taken to a hospital for treatment of hypothermia. Madison Lake fire department, Mayo Ambulance and conservation officers assisted.
