U of M Unveils North Star Apple Crisp Ice Cream

The University of Minnesota is celebrating its 175th anniversary with a new signature ice cream flavor.

North Star Apple Crisp combines apple-crisp flavors and crunchy topping with a swirl of aronia berry. University officials say it highlights Minnesota’s dairy industry and the school’s apple-breeding program.

The winning idea was submitted by Paul and Heather Wright of Wright Farms in Hutchinson and was selected from nearly 500 entries.

Sales begin Wednesday, August 26th, at the Meat and Dairy Salesroom on the university’s St. Paul campus. The flavor will later be available at Goldy’s Gameroom, the Gopher Spot and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
