UMD falls to Michigan in NCAA Hockey

(Albany, NY/Minnesota news Network) — The Minnesota-Duluth men’s hockey team fell behind 3-0 in the first period and couldn’t quite recover, losing to Michigan in the N-C-A-A national quarterfinals yesterday in Albany, New York 4-3. The Wolverines advanced to the Frozen Four with the win, joining Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Denver. The Bulldogs cut the lead to 4-3 late in the third period and had a few near misses to tie the game late. U-M-D goals came from sophomore forward Harper Bentz of Moorhead, sophomore defenseman Ty Hanson of Hermantown, and senior forward Scott Truman from Lethbridge, Alberta. Sophomore forward Zam Plante of Hermantown had a pair of assists in the setback. The Bulldogs returned to the N-C-A-A Tournament for the first time in three years and return a lot of production for next year. U-M-D finished the season with a 24-15-and-1.
