Vikings bringing back Akers
(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings continue to gear up for Sunday’s divisional showdown with the rival Detroit Lions. The Purple will practice today and begin implementing a game plan to try to slow down a potent Detroit offense. Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel says the Lions are putting up numbers “left and right” with great skill players and an excellent offensive line. He says Minnesota will have to be prepared to “come to work on Sunday.” The Vikes traded for Houston running back Cam Akers, who had previously been with the team. Minnesota swapped a sixth round pick for a seventh round pick and Akers. The team will release an injury report after today’s practice, which should shed some light on the availability of running back Aaron Jones. The Vikings are 5-0, while the Lions are 4-1. Sunday’s kickoff is set for noon at U-S Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.
