Vikings’ McCarthy, Wentz Split Backup Quarterback Reps

The competition to back up Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray remains unsettled.

J.J. McCarthy and Carson Wentz divided second-team snaps during Tuesday’s practice as Minnesota approached its final roster decisions.

McCarthy finished the session by throwing a touchdown pass to rookie receiver Tai Felton.

The Vikings have not announced which quarterback will hold the number-two position. Minnesota closes the preseason Friday night against Denver before the roster is reduced to 53 players.
