Vikings win in Cleveland, sign Pro Bowl Corner
(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are bringing in a Pro Bowl cornerback. The team signed Stephon Gilmore to a one-year deal yesterday. Gilmore’s deal is worth ten-million dollars with seven-million of that being guaranteed. The Vikings cornerback room was thin after rookie corner Khyree Jackson was killed in a car accident last month. Shortly after, second-year corner Mekhi Blackmon tore his A-C-L in training camp. Gilmore is a five-time Pro Bowler, but he is playing for his fifth team in five seasons. The 33-year-old had two interceptions and a forced fumble in 17 games with Dallas last season.
(Cleveland, OH) — The Minnesota Vikings remain undefeated in preseason play following a 27-12 win over the Cleveland Browns in Ohio on Saturday afternoon. Most of Minnesota’s starters didn’t play in the contest, but back-up quarterbacks Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall each played well. Mullens passed for 135 yards and a score, while Hall had a perfect passer rating after tracking up 87 passing yards and tossing two touchdowns on just five attempts. Former first-round pick Lewis Cine also had a good day, intercepting a pass and sacking the quarterback. The Vikings wrap up preseason against the Eagles this Saturday.
