Virginia “Ginnie” Kiviaho
Virginia (Ginnie) Ann Kiviaho, 71, of Newfolden, MN passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Ginnie was born on October 31, 1954 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Alfred and Judith Hagenbeck.
She attended school in Newfolden, graduating with the class of 1972. Ginnie continued her education at Northwest Technical College in Thief River Falls, MN. Ginnie was united marriage to Tim Kiviaho on December 18, 1982, at the Saint Paul Assembly of God church in South Saint Paul, MN. To this union, 3 sons were born: Michael, Daniel, and Christopher. Ginnie found great happiness spending time with her children, grandchildren and family, celebrating each milestone and surrounding them with love, encouragement and unwavering support. As she was able, she attended as many school and church activities as possible. These included sporting events, concerts, programs, plays and countless other activities.
Ginnie truly had a heart of service to all of her family and friends. She found much joy in serving others through her church in which she was deeply involved with the Women’s Ministries, AWANA, and Women of the Word. She volunteered with the “Grandparent “Program” at the local school where she was known as “Grandma Ginnie” to the kids who she worked with. She also enjoyed volunteering within the community at the Senion Center and with Newfest activities.
She also enjoyed creating beauty with her hands and sharing it with those she loved through quilting, crocheting, needlepoint, diamond art and many other types of sewing and crafts.
Ginnie especially enjoyed cooking, baking and carrying on the family tradition of making lefsa and all of the Norwegian goodies that had been part of her heritage along with an assortment of cookies and bars that she would share with family and friends.
Last but not least, she enjoyed putting together puzzles of all kinds, shapes and sizes. The bigger the challenge, the more satisfaction she had when they were completed. Ginnie also was a big fan of “Minnesota” sports, especially the Vikings and the Twins.
Ginnie is survived by her loving husband Tim; her sons Mike of Shakopee, MN, Dan (Eliza) of Goodridge, MN and Chris of Fargo; along with her five cherished grandchildren Noah, Caleb, Abram, Annabelle & Ariel Kiviaho. She is also survived by her siblings Wendell Hagenbeck, Ardith (Roger) Volk, Verne (Lynnette) Hagenbeck, Lyle (Jean) Hagenbeck, Rodney (Linsay) Hagenbeck, and Marilyn (Gary) Donarski; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Ginnie is preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents Alfred & Judith Hagenbeck; and her in-laws Edwin & Delores Kiviaho.

Free Church in Newfolden MN. Visitation will be held
Friday, July 17 th starting at 6:00pm with a Prayer & Share
service at 7:00 PM at the Evangelical Free Church in
Newfolden.
