Walker Jenkins Makes Strong Case for Twins Promotion

Minnesota Twins top prospect Walker Jenkins is making a strong case for his first major-league promotion.

The 21-year-old center fielder has reached base in 40 of 43 games since returning from a shoulder injury in June.

Jenkins entered Wednesday batting .406 with seven home runs and a 1.256 O-P-S over his previous 17 games for the Triple-A St. Paul Saints.

Byron Buxton’s latest right hip setback could create an opening in Minnesota’s outfield. However, the Twins have not announced a promotion or provided a final update on Buxton’s condition.

Major-league rosters expand from 26 to 28 players September 1st, giving the Twins another opportunity to add Jenkins.
