Walz Orders Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Former President Carter
[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz has ordered all United States and Minnesota flags to fly at half-staff at all state buildings in the State of Minnesota from sunrise today (Monday, December 30), until sunset on January 29, 2025, to honor the life and legacy of former President Jimmy Carter.
Former President Carter, the 39th President of the United States, died Sunday at the age of 100 – the longest-lived U.S. President.
A statement from President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden says America and the world lost “an extraordinary leader, statesman and humanitarian.”
“President Carter defined what it means to be a servant leader. He fought for our democracy, our climate, humanity, and civil rights around the world,” said Governor Walz. “We can find peace today knowing that he is reunited with the love of his life, Rosalynn.”
Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are also encouraged to join in lowering their flags.
