Warm Start to September Across Minnesota, Storm Chances Return

Northern Minnesota

Northern Minnesota will see partly sunny skies Tuesday with temperatures climbing into the middle 80s. Duluth is expected to reach around 85 degrees with an overnight low near 59.

Wednesday looks sunny and a little cooler, with highs around the upper 70s. By Thursday, clouds increase and a few thunderstorms may develop. Breezy conditions are also possible, with highs falling into the lower 70s.

Central Minnesota

Central Minnesota starts the three-day period with a mix of clouds and sunshine Tuesday. Temperatures around St. Cloud are expected to reach the middle 80s, with lows around 60 degrees.

Wednesday remains mostly sunny and warm, with highs in the lower 80s. Thursday turns warmer and more humid, with temperatures approaching 90 degrees. A few thunderstorms may develop during the morning before conditions improve later in the day.

Southern Minnesota

Southern Minnesota will have the most unsettled weather during the three-day period.

Tuesday will be very warm and humid, with highs around 89 degrees in the Rochester area. Scattered thunderstorms may develop during the afternoon, and stronger storms could produce heavy rainfall and damaging wind gusts.

A few thunderstorms could linger into early Wednesday before skies become partly sunny. Highs will remain in the middle 80s with humid conditions continuing.

Thursday stays warm and humid with highs approaching the upper 80s. Another round of scattered afternoon thunderstorms will be possible.

Overall, northern and central Minnesota should enjoy plenty of dry weather through Wednesday, while southern Minnesota continues to deal with heat, humidity and periodic thunderstorms. Storm chances spread farther north again by Thursday.
