White Earth Nation Advances Proposed Moorhead Casino

White Earth Nation is moving forward with the federal review process for a proposed casino and resort complex near Moorhead.

Enrolled tribal members are invited to a September 15th informational meeting at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen. Tribal leaders and the project team will discuss the Bureau of Indian Affairs fee-to-trust application and a socioeconomic impact study.

The Nation purchased 280 acres near Interstate 94 and Minnesota Highway 336 in 2024. Preliminary plans call for a 300-room resort, up to 1,200 slot machines, gaming tables, a convenience store and a truck stop.

White Earth officials estimate the development could create as many as 500 jobs.

The project remains proposed and must complete the federal approval process before moving forward
