Wild beat Lightning, Make some Moves

(St. Paul, MN/Minnesota News Network) — Kirill Kaprizov became the franchise all time leading scorer as the Wild thumped the Lightning 5-1 on Tuesday. Kaprizov scored into an empty net to finish the scoring but in the process scored his 220th career goal to move past Marian Gaborik for the franchise lead in goals scored. Quinn Hughes, Mats Zuccarello, Yakov Trenin and Brock Faber also scored for the Wild along with three assists on the night for Matt Boldy. Filip Gustavsson made 25 saves as Minnesota stopped a two game losing streak. The Wild are on the road this weekend as they’ll skate in Vegas on Friday night followed by a Sunday matinee against Colorado.

The Wild have already been active leading into Friday’s N-H-L trade deadline. Monday, they claimed forward Robby Fabbri off waivers from St. Louis and then watched him make his Wild debut last night against the Ligthning. Then before the game last night, Wild general manager Bill Guerin sent a 2028 second round pick to Nashville for forward Michael McCarron. He’s expected to join the team today and travel with the team when they leave tomorrow for their weekend road trip. To make room for the moves, the Wild put Marcus Foligno on injured reserve – he listed as week to week. Plus they put forward Tyler Pitlick on waivers. In other news, after missing 14 games with a lower body injury, the Wild activated defenseman Jonas Brodin. He played his first game since mid January in last nights win and logged 15:24 of ice time in the victory.
