Wild edge Capitals

(Washington, D.C.) — It came down to a pair of future Hall of Famers as Alex Ovechken needed a shootout goal on Marc Andre Fleury to prolong the game. But it was Fleury that came up with one last stop as the Wild beat the Capitals 4-3 via the shootout. Marco Rossi scored midway through the third period to tie the game at 3-3. Then in the shootout, Matt Boldy scored the only goal to set up the epic duel. Fleury stopped Ovechken to get his 66th career shootout victory. Ryan Hartman and Yakov Trenin also scored for the Wild as they won for the second time in a row to improve to 24-11-4 on the season. They’re now four points back of the Jets for the top spot in the Central Division. The Wild road trip concludes on Saturday night at 6 P-M against the Hurricanes.
