Wild Fall To Av’s In Shootout
Nathan MacKinnon scored his 43rd of the season and again in the shootout as the Avalanche took the extra point against the Wild on Sunday afternoon in a 3-2 shootout win. MacKinnon scored the opening goal in the second period but the Wild responded with a pair in the third from Kirill Kaprizov and Nico Sturm. Nic Roy tallied to make it 2-2 which was enough to force overtime and then the Wild fell short in the shootout with MacKinnon scoring the deciding goal. Jesper Wallstedt got the start and made 33 saves along with 2-of-4 in the shootout. Wild coach John Hynes on the season series against Colorado and going 1-1-1 against the Avs, Knights and Lightning.
The Wild are 2-0-1 in the last three and 8-2-1 in their last 11. They’ll drop the puck on a four game home stand starting Tuesday night against the Mammoth.
