Wild Wolves win…Blown leads, historic OT comeback

(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off one of the wildest wins in franchise history last night – a 110-108 overtime stunner over the Houston Rockets in Minneapolis. Minnesota blew an 11-point with under four-minutes to play to see the game get to overtime. Then, the Wolves trailed by 13 points in the overtime, before closing the game on a 15-0 run to win it. It was the largest O-T comeback since the N-B-A began tracking such stats in 1997. Julius Randle delivered the dagger with a pull up jumper with 8.8 seconds left, finishing with 24 points, all after halftime. Houston had a chance to tie it at the line, but Rockets’ star Kevin Durant missed his first of the night with just over three-seconds remaining. He missed the second attempt on purpose, but the Rockets never got off a final shot. The Wolves were playing short handed. Anthony Edwards was out for a fifth straight game, Ayo Dosunmu was out with illness and injury, Jaden McDaniels did score 25 points before leaving with injury, Rudy Gobert fouled out, and Naz Reid was ejected from the game. Despite all that, Minnesota improved to 45-28, staying inf fifth-place in the N-B-A Western Conference playoff race, a game-and-a-half ahead of Houston and a half-game behind Denver. The Timberwolves are back home Saturday to host Detroit at 4:30 P-M.
