Winnipeg Man Arrested Over False Kidnapping Report

A Winnipeg man is jailed in western Minnesota after police say he falsely reported being kidnapped.

Alexandria police were alerted Saturday to a reported abduction that began in Winnipeg. Officers found the suspected vehicle in Alexandria and questioned two men inside.

Investigators say 37-year-old Roderick Garson admitted the kidnapping claim was false and that he already knew the other man. No weapons were found.

Garson was arrested on suspicion of falsely reporting a crime and booked into the Douglas County Jail. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and F-B-I assisted with the response.
